March 2021 Welcome Back

Dear Parents/Carers and Children in Class 1,

I really can’t wait to see you all on Monday 8th March. I just wanted to say a great big thank you to each and every one of you for the determination you have all shown during this difficult period.  Learning has been a little different for a while, but you have shown that you’re all extremely resilient. Thank you to the children who remained patient with me when I kept freezing on the screen and sounded like a robot!  Thank you to the parent who picked the play dough up off the floor during our ‘Dough Disco’ and handed it back to her child so they could continue their learning.  I see you all and I am extremely grateful.

You may be a little nervous about returning to school and it is ok to feel this way. I’ll let you in on a little secret.  Miss Laven is nervous too, but I know that when we’re back together it will once again be how it’s meant to be. We will be busy sharing stories with our friends, reconnecting and filling Class 1 with the love and laughter that makes us who we are. If anything feels tricky then the best learning is about to happen. There’s an adventure that awaits us all and I can’t wait.

Reception children have been working hard to learn their sounds and we will be doing lots of writing when you return. There will be lots of individual and shared reading taking place. Spring is in the air and we will definitely be spending lots of time in the outdoor classroom planting some beautiful flowers and watching them grow. We will continue to develop children’s confidence and there will be lots of planned opportunities within the environment to apply maths, phonics and writing skills independently.  Children will continue to take ownership of their environment and we will work with them to develop and enhance any specific interests they may have.

Finally, without doubt your children have achieved so much during this pandemic. They have kept on learning and will have lots of happy memories about the good things that have happened. We would like to celebrate these positives and I will be setting an activity for them next week which will be very useful for me, as I plan the return to school. Please look out for this next week.

Thank you for your continued support.
